Walmart Canada and real estate development company Condor Properties has started construction on a new distribution centre in Vaughan, Ontario. The 550,000 ft2 distribution centre will be located at 11110 Jane Street and is expected to be completed in 2024.

Retail-Insight Network stated that this building will handle general merchandise and food products. The facility could generate hundreds of construction jobs in the Vaughan area.

The company is also building a 300,000 ft2 distribution centre in Surrey, British Columbia. They are also renovating an existing distribution centre in Cornwall, Ontario.

An article in Newswire states that Walmart Canada operates a growing chain of more than 400 stores nationwide serving more than 1.2 million customers each day. Walmart Canada's flagship online store, Walmart.ca, is visited by more than 900,000 customers daily. Walmart Canada is one of Canada's largest employers and is ranked one of the country's top 10 most influential brands.

Walmart Canada's extensive philanthropy program is focused on supporting Canadian families in need and since 1994 has raised and donated more than $400 million to Canadian charities. 

Condor Properties is a privately owned Vaughan based real estate development company that is related to the Con-Drain Group of companies. Condor's principals have over 70 years of experience in land development with an inventory of over 100 quality buildings located throughout Greater Toronto and surrounding areas.

York Region reported that Premier Doug Ford also attended the groundbreaking ceremony along with the Mayor of Vaughan and Condor Properties.

According to Supply Pro, this new distribution centre is going to be a world-class facility and will handle 70 million cases of products from more than 3,000 suppliers which is the highest volume of any Walmart facility in the country.
