Toronto's busy Entertainment District will be getting a pair of towers designed by Quadrangle for Plaza at Adelaide and Widmer Streets per Urban Toronto.
The south tower will reach 49 storeys and will be all condos. The 48 storey north tower will feature a 353 suite Riu Plaza hotel which will occupy the bottom 28 storeys of the building. The upper portion of the tower will include 131 condos. Both of the towers will rise to 156 metres (512 feet) and will sit on top of 10 storey podiums.
According to Urban Toronto, Riu Hotels & Resorts is a Spanish based hotel chain that has over 40 hotels around the Caribbean and just over 100 around the world currently. The company plans to invest about $100 million in the project.
The hotel will have the following amenities:
- 353 rooms
- Meeting rooms
- A gym
- Bar and restaurant

RIU has announced a 2021 opening for the hotel. The complex's lowest levels are to be clad in red brick to complement the Victorian townhomes that are being incorporated along Widmer Street. The two podiums will be clad in buff brick with vertical projected accents, framing punched windows with operable panes and louvres.
The towers are nearly twins, not identical, clad mostly in a window wall system with silver-grey spandrel panels, glass balcony railings and contrasting strips of aluminum panels running vertically up the faces, accenting the tower facades.
Per Urban Toronto, 16 different suite layouts are now available as part of the initial release of units and are available in one through three-bedroom layouts between 509 and 1,262 feet in area. Many of the plans are already marked as "sold out".
