The Ottawa Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) has received approval from the Ontario government to commence the construction of a public elementary school in Findlay Creek and a public high school in Riverside South and will provide many opportunities to professionals in the commercial construction field.
The OCDSB has long recognized the need for additional educational facilities in Findlay Creek and Riverside South due to their rapid population growth. The new Findlay Creek Elementary School will be located on Mikana Road and will accommodate 674 students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6. Construction is expected to begin in June, and the school is slated to open its doors in September 2024.
Riverside South will witness the construction of a new public high school at the corner of Earl Armstrong Road and Spratt Road. This state-of-the-art facility will cater to Grades 7 to 12, accommodating a total of 1,516 students. The school will feature advanced classrooms, laboratories, sports facilities, and communal areas, fostering an environment conducive to comprehensive learning. Similar to the Findlay Creek project, the Riverside South Secondary School will also provide 39 licensed child-care spots. Construction is scheduled to commence in July, with the school expected to open in September 2025.
