Pickering College in Newmarket is starting construction of West Lake House. This will be a historic addition to the PC campus and at 50,000 square feet, West Lake House will almost double the amount of classroom space that they currently have.
West Lake House will include the following:
- 600 seat auditorium
- Science labs
- Makerspace
- Junior school wing
- Music and theatre rooms
- Arts room
- Home to the school's radio station 102.7 CHOP FM
A statement from the school said that the learning spaces in West Lake House will help the students develop the skills they need for the future, while also developing the values and character traits that will help them as future leaders and global citizens.
Pickering College is located at 16945 Bayview Avenue, which is about 30 minutes north of Toronto in the town of Newmarket. The college is located on a beautiful 42 acre campus in the heart of the town.
Ample recreation space at Pickering College includes:
- Four playing fields
- Baseball diamond
- Rubberized surface track
- Fully equipped athletic complex
- Indoor skating arena
Newswire reports that the building has been designed by international architectural firm Diamond Schmitt Architects Inc. and will be built by construction firm Maystar General Contractors.
Fundraising for this facility has been supported by the entire school community including current and past parents, staff, faculty, alumni, and other friends of the school. West Lake House will be an incredible addition to the Pickering College campus for this and future generations of students.

York Region News states that Pickering College is Canada's only Quaker-founded independent day and boarding school for boys and girls from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12. Founded in 1842 and established in its current Newmarket location since 1909.
