Prime Data Centers, a data center solutions provider has announced the groundbreaking of its $1 Billion Chicago data center campus at 1600 East Higgins Road in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. Prime Data plans to create the largest data center campus in Greater Chicago.
The Data center will serve:

- Global Internet businesses
- Colocation companies
- Fortune 500 enterprises
Capacity News states that the new facility, known as Prime ORD1, will deliver 384,000 square feet and up to 72MW of capacity to the market and build to the availability, connectivity and power density requirements of the biggest cloud brands.

PR Newswire reports that Elk Grove Village's tax incentive plan and increased regional demand created a unique opportunity for Prime Data Centers.

Data Center Dynamics stated that ORD-01 is the first of three planned buildings that will be marketed as a single-tenant hyperscale data center. The 384,000 square foot building will deliver 200,000 square feet of data hall space and up to 72MW across three stories.
According to Governor JB Pritzker, there are now 15 operating data centers investing more than $4.6 billion in our communities - all while creating hundreds of jobs.
Two more buildings are planned; building B will be another three-story construction, offering 162,000 square feet of data hall space and 63MW, while building C will offer 36MW across two stories and 94,000 square feet of data hall space. Timelines for completion have not been shared yet.
