A new wave of tall towers are coming to Barrie and will reshape that city's skyline. The growing row of waterfront condominiums that face Kempenfelt Bay is set to get a major new addition from Developer Gary Silverberg. He is the name behind the Art Condos in Toronto's West Queen West Triangle. He is now bringing the two-tower Debut Waterfront Residences to 55 Dunlop Street West in downtown Barrie. The twin towers are designed by Scott Shields Architects and Oleson Worland Architects. (Rendering above courtesy of Gary Silverberg and Scott Shields Architects/Oleson Worland Architects).
Urban Toronto states that Silverberg has been able to get the zoning to allow such heights in Barrie. The 33 storey twin towers are massed in a stacked box style, with brick-faced lower volumes that go with the traditional downtown buildings in Barrie.
The upper levels are gridded in progressively lighter materials that frame reflective glazing which seems to make them gradually dissolve into the sky. The grid-like facade created by rows of large windows and integrated balconies add to its dynamic presence on Barrie's waterfront. The towers are connected together and anchored to the pedestrian realm through a six-storey, red brick retail/commercial podium with shops and a pedestrian arcade.
The towers will include the following:
- Initial tower will have 272 units
- 7th floor boardroom and business centre
- Indoor entertaining and dining space
- Outdoor terrace with alfresco dining
- Fitness Center
- Concierge attended lobby
- Parcel Storage
- Conversation area arranged around a fire pit
- Infinity-edge lounge and plunge pool
- Above ground parking
According to BuzzBuzz Home, the completion of the development is scheduled for the summer of 2024. Sales are available in price from $369,900 to over $1,399,000. Debut Waterfront Residences unit sizes range from 444 to 1653 square feet.
Livabl_ by BuzzBuzz Home states that to introduce the landmark development during this pandemic, a first of its kind talk show-style video was created to preview the condo. Gary Silverberg is a talk show guest on this video along with managing partner of The Condo Store Marketing Systems, Mark Cohen.
The development is in a perfect location just steps from Heritage Park, Centennial Park Beach and the shores of Lake Simcoe. It even has 6.7 kilometers of waterfront trails. Dunlop Street West is in the heart of downtown Barrie's retail and commercial hub with local restaurants, art galleries, boutique shops and charming cafes.
