DAC Developments is planning to build a 26 story Sonder Hotel at 424 S. Wabash Avenue in Chicago. The South Loop project will replace a surface parking lot and a single-story commercial building with a glassy 285 foot tall tower. The project is free to move forward "as of right" without any official review from the city of Chicago because it already has a DX-16 Downtown Mixed-Use zoning.
Urbanize Chicago states that the project will include the following:
- Small lobby
- Back-of-house hotel services
- 1,800 square feet of retail space on the ground floor
- 40 parking spaces on floors two and three
- Fourth and fifth levels will have amenity space
- Several outdoor terraces
- 11,000 square feet of office space
- 270 apartment-style hotel rooms
- With 190 studios, 16 one-bedrooms, and 64 two-bedrooms
