A renovation/alteration building permit filed last Wednesday for an Amazon Store build out, could be one of the six new Amazon Go stores opening this year. It is unknown where the six locations will be but, according to Curbed, “Chicago could be on the short list”.
The site at 203 N. LaSalle Street is located across from the James R. Thompson Center. The work includes new interior finishes, updated electrical services and devices and HVAC and plumbing upgrades. Published accounts have the construction estimate at $325,000.

The one and only current Amazon Go Store is located in Seattle and opened January of this year. Amazon boasts a “check out free shopping experience”. All that is needed is an “Amazon account, free Amazon Go app and iPhone or Android phone”.
