A ground breaking was held on June 16, 2018 for the new mixed-use development at 299 Campbell Avenue according to Urban TorontoTAS, Bentall Kennedy and the Toronto Public Library were at the ground breaking to kick off the start of construction for the new 14 story residential rental-library hybrid building. The project will be located on the south side of Dupont just west of Lansdowne and will add residential density and a huge enhancement to the Junction Triangle.

There will be 235 rental units above the ground floor retail area and the new 10,044 square foot home of the Toronto Public Library's new location of the Perth Dupont Branch.

"299 Campbell represents a watershed moment for TAS." "This project is a culmination of the efforts of our team, Councillor Balao, the Toronto Public Library and our community."

TAS President and CEO Mazyar Mortazavi stated

The building will feature a bold design by Teeple Architects with a highly articulated massing with many step backs and covered in a mix of textured precast concrete panels with a red brick finish and contrasting white aluminum panels which will give it a very unique design. Specific permits for shoring and construction are under review by city inspectors at this time and shoring is predicted to start right after permits are issued.

According to Toronto, the new library will replace the 3,600 square foot Perth/Dupont location which is one of the smallest libraries in the Toronto Public Library's network at this time. It is predicted to be completed in 2021 and will be part of the 14 story rental building project. The library will be on one floor and will provide lots of natural light through the very large glass windows that will be installed. All during construction, the old Perth/Dupont library will remain open to the public.

"We have achieved this extraordinary project building on TAS's standing history of a deep commitment to exceptional design and long term commitment to environmental sustainability". "299 Campbell will be a marquee project for our City and precedent for deep collaboration in city building."

TAS President and CEO Mazyar Mortazavi

Many buyers are turning to the area of Dupont and Lansdowne for more value for their dollar according to Big Guide to Condos. This area is predicted to be the next up and coming area. This new condo project at 299 Campbell Avenue should attract a lot of attention as this area is becoming more and more in demand and should bring positive change to the community.
