Ecole St. Charles will be demolished to make way for a new community health centre. Centre de Sante Communautaire de Timmins is currently operating out of the Timmins Square shopping mall.

Health services will not be suspended during the demolition and construction. They will continue at two locations:

 - The current one in the Timms Square shopping mall

 - The old office of former longtime MPP Gilles Bisson

"This center contributes to the healthcare of the community. It also contributes as a recruitment tool for the community and the Center Sante Communautaire de Timmins works with its partners and the surrounding areas to care for all orphan patients and help recruit doctors in the North."

Executive Director of Centre Sante Communautaire de Timmins | Michelle Stevens

According to Finax News, Stevens hopes that demolition of the former Ecole St. Charles will begin this fall and construction of the new center will begin next spring, with hopes for it to open in 2025.

The new Centre will benefit the community by:

 - Being able to see more patients in a day

 - Have more space for different treatments

 - Provide different types of therapies

Timmins Today reports that back in April, the province announced that $10 million will go for a new facility. Since the announcement, CSC Timmons has been working on the following:

 - Fencing

 - Architecture

 - Program management

 - The topographic study of the ground

 - Promotion work

Stevens stated that an architect has been hired as well as a project manager to help with the pre-qualification for tendering the demolition.

The new building will be just over 10,000 square feet, whereas the existing one is located in a former school and is over 30,000 square feet.

CSC Timmons was created in November 2018 and began offering services in late 2019.

The non-profit organization, funded through the Northeast Local Health Integration Network, provides primary care services and community programs to the francophone community in Timmins and its surrounding areas. It has been offering services out of the Kent Street facility and at the Timmins Square.
