A new community center is set to rise next to the historic Church of Our Saviour in Lincoln Park, Chicago. The City of Chicago has issued a demolition permit for the rear property at 530 West Fullerton, marking the beginning of a significant project that aims to enhance community services and support.
Precision Excavation has been contracted to handle the demolition of the current two-story parish hall, which dates back to the 1860s. The new center will be built in its place, promising modern amenities and improved accessibility while preserving the 150-year-old church building.

The main level is designed to be a versatile gathering space. It will accommodate a variety of events such as wedding receptions, graduation parties, and other community activities. The main level will wrap around the existing sanctuary, maintaining a strong connection with the historic church building. Additional features include a small conference room and a warming kitchen to support parish events and rental opportunities.
The upper level will feature classrooms for youth programs and a small gathering space. This area will be equipped with modern furnishings and audiovisual equipment, making it suitable for both church activities and rental by outside groups. The space is designed to generate additional revenue to support the church’s mission and services.
