ASA Chicago – Association of Subcontractors & Affiliates, a local trade association representing commercial subcontractors of all construction trades for over 50 years, looks to return to popular event venue Venuti’s Ristorante & Banquets (Addison, IL) for the highly anticipated Meet the GCs event on Tuesday, October 1.
This event, spearheaded by ASA Chicago’s Business Opportunities Committee (led by Chairwoman, Kim Robinson of Pella Windows & Doors) is one of the most highly anticipated gatherings of commercial construction professionals in the Chicagoland area. ASA Chicago is happy to feature the event in its long-time home venue, Venuti’s where participants will occupy their total banquet space and meet general contractor estimators and project managers from 40+ GC exhibitors, all in one room.
Last year’s event saw its first-ever event theme: Hawaiian luau, with proceeds donated to displaced residents of Maui. After a grand success in 2023 with attendance soaring to nearly 700 guests, ASA Chicago will kick off its 2024 Meet the GCs event, sporting a football theme as a nod to all those championing their way to success on and off the field in Chicago construction.
What is the purpose of this event? Subcontractor members of ASA Chicago rely in great part on general contractors for their work. This event provides them a key opportunity to speak directly with representatives of 40 major Chicago area general contracting firms. Among the exhibiting general contractors are: Clark Construction Group, Richard Group, The Missner Group, UJAMAA Construction Inc., K.R. Miller Contractors, Inc., Redmond, Norcon, Inc., The Walsh Group, F. H. Paschen, W.E. “The ASA Chicago Meet the GCs night is the main industry event for the Fall season. Here you can see new faces, and network with the more seasoned members of the organization. For the GC exhibitors, it’s a great way to showcase your company, but also keep the relationships going with some of the best contractors in the Chicagoland area. It’s the perfect time to update your bidders list for the upcoming season.”

Estimators, project managers, and Executives of the general contractors provide subcontractors with information about their companies and, most importantly, how to get on their bid lists. The event’s member sponsors along with ASA Chicago’s Board of Directors are among those who will have first access to the GCs during the VIP hour preceding the official event start time of 6:00 PM when buffet dinner, beverages, and quality networking will commence. Sponsors include the premier “Touchdown” Event Sponsor: Sunbelt Rentals, and the “Field Goal” Sponsor: Mid-America Carpenters Regional Council. The event will also feature a Cigar Bar on the venue’s outdoor patio, complimentary for attendees and generously provided by ASA Chicago member, Balanced Environments, Inc.
The ASA Chicago General Contractor Council (GC Council) was launched in 1999 with the intention to improve communication and create a thriving partnership to benefit ASA Chicago members and the industry at large. Recognizing the importance of subcontractors, the mission of ASA Chicago’s GC Council is to facilitate communication, cooperation, understanding, and improved relationships between GCs and subcontractors by providing access, education, and exchange of information based on common goals and interests. This annual affair is a key opportunity to facilitate this dynamic for ASA Chicago members and prospects looking to network, shake hands with individuals who they have only corresponded with via e-mail, fill their pipelines and strengthen relationships.
While focused on featuring General Contractors, the event attracts commercial subcontractors of all trades, vendors, and professional service providers from the Chicagoland construction industry to form an excellent opportunity for quality business networking. If you do business in the Chicagoland construction industry, this is a must-attend event where you will enjoy familiar faces and friendly ASA Chicago members who are extraordinary at connecting each other and assisting with introductions.
Interested parties can register at www.asachicago.org, with a sponsor deadline and early bird rates for members expiring September 13. Non-members of ASA Chicago are encouraged to inquire about ASA Chicago membership to access member pricing for admission and sponsorships at various networking events year-round, access to members-only Business Practice Interchange (BPI) sessions, first right at speaking opportunities, subscription to unionbids.com, complimentary lien-notification service, and more.
In addition to keeping ASA Chicago’s major events (the Construction Expo & Safety Conference each March, and the annual Golf Outing each June) on the radar, construction professionals are encouraged to KICK OFF the Fall by sponsoring and attending the Meet the GCs event on October 1 to ensure they are visible and actively benefiting from this one-of-a-kind opportunity. With representatives from 40+ general contractor firms in one room, this is an opportunity you cannot FUMBLE!
