7 Major Road Construction Projects for Kane & DuPage Counties

7New Major Road Construction projects for Kane & DuPage Counties

The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced the beginning of seven new projects that will improve highways and streets this spring in parts of Kane and DuPage counties. This is part of Governor J.B. Pritzker's Rebuild Illinois capitol program.

According to Patch, this spring's projects focus mainly on highways and streets and will be an investment of $41 million for the region. The price includes both materials and new jobs.

"These projects represent a significant investment in Kane and DuPage counties and are a big step forward in our work to improve safety, mobility and create economic opportunity for years to come. We are asking drivers to be patient, slow down and pay extra attention driving in and around any work zone."

Acting Transportation Secretary | Omer Osman

State transportation officials have not released a date for the start of construction, but May is typically known to many in the Midwest for orange cones and lane closures.

Projects from IDOT are as follows:

Location: Kingery Highway from Third Ave. to Archer Ave.

 - Project type: This project is part of an ongoing effort to modernize traffic signals, install rumbles strips, paint new pavement marking and replace sections of guardrail.

 - Accommodations/closures: Drivers should expect daily lane closures and occasional overnight lane closures.

 - Timeline: The project began in the summer of 2020 and might be completed by this summer.
