Last week the Mount Prospect Village Board granted final approval to Nicholas & Associates and Wingspan Development Group's planned 20 West Apartment Building and Restaurant.
Designed by Studio 222 Architects, plans for the six story development call for 73 apartment rentals, of which 50 will be efficiency and one bedroom units and 23 will be 2 bedroom units. Also included, an attached 5,000 Square Foot two story restaurant with rooftop seating, anticipated to be Mia's Cantina.
Concerns were raised in the meeting regarding the parking for the apartments. Under the plan, there will be 78 parking spaces, fewer than required. However, the developments proximity to the Metra Station is expected to attract some residents who don't own a car. In addition, it was noted that there is a 383 space public garage across the street from the planned development and also the Metra lot with 143 spaces available weekday evenings and weekends.
